Company history
“Group of Companies “Titan” takes its origin since November 20, 1989, when Mikhail Alexandrovich Sutyaginsky created Youth Center “Titan” (MC “Titan”) by the Komsomol committee of PO “Omsknefteorgsintez” (ONPZ). In compliance with the Statutes, major fields of the organization’s activities were “development of industrial and social activity through creation and support of amateur, production, cooperative and other associations”. In its first years the company was engaged primarily in trade and procurement work.
In 1992 MC “Titan” began to master new fields – cargo transportation and developer business.
In 1993 on the basis of Youth Center “Titan” limited partnership “West-Siberian Trade and Industrial Company “Titan” (ZSTPF “Titan”) is established. ZSTPF “Titan” was preoccupied with renovation, construction, making of construction materials and upholstered furniture, retail and wholesale trade in foods, realization of VAZ automobiles. Wholesale trade in petroleum products becomes the most promising field of activity. Freight transportation sector continues to develop, in this period “Titan” was given membership in Association of International Automotive Freight Carriers (ASMAP).
Year 1994 can be regarded as the starting year for the formation of “Titan” as a petrochemical producing structure. On the basis of production capacities of public company “Omsky Kauchuk” was created CJSC “ECOOIL” (ZSTPF “Titan” – among the founders), Production of oxygenic additive for motor fuels – methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) – becomes the main field of activity of the new company. On August 19, 1995 the first tonne of MTBE is produced.
Since 1998 ZSTPF “Titan” – general investor and shareholder on public company “Omsky Kauchuk”.
In 1999 direction of freight transportation and filling stations is separated in the company as a detached business – company limited “INVESTHIMPROM” is created.
2000
Widening of activities and constantly increasing need in carrying out construction works, rise of expenditures on this article in the budget define decision of “Titan” to create proprietary construction company – company limited “Omsk Construction Company – 2000” (OSK-2000). Company is engaged in production of general construction works, erection of buildings and installations. In the same year “Titan” expands geography of its presence in Russia and registers enterprise “Bash-Titan” in the city of Ufa which is occupied with realization of liquid and gaseous fuel.
2003
“Titan” continues to expand geography of its presence. In 2003 on the territory of Azerbaijan (the city of Baku) “Group of Companies “Titan” establishes a subsidiary which produces petrochemical goods. At the same time a subsidiary with foreign investments is created on the territory of Ukraine. This company also becomes an operator on the petrochemical goods market of Ukraine and CIS.
GC “Titan” receives first certificate of VIP-client of Sberbank of Russia.
2004
Growth in the sales volumes, widening of supplies geography, increase in the need of proprietary RTCs and base of equipment define decision of the “Group of Companies “Titan” to create its own enterprises in the market of railroad transportation and leasing. Enterprise “Titan-VKM-Trans” is created. In the same period “Group of Companies “Titan” starts realization of a new investment project – construction of own thermal power plant on the base of the enterprise “Neftehimservis”.
2005
Thermal power plant starts functioning and becomes one of the major elements of infrastructure for creation of the new production facilities on the industrial sites of the “Group of Companies “Titan”. Having analyzed the existing production capacities, raw materials base, demand of the world market, “Group of Companies “Titan” starts realization of a new investment project on petrochemical market – construction on the territory of Omsk region of a 180 thousand tonnes per year polypropylene plant. In may 2005 a subsidiary, company limited “Omsk Polypropylene Plant” (“Poliom” Ltd.), is created, its main sphere of activity is production of plastics and synthetic resins in initial forms. Project of the plant construction is carried out with attraction of funds of state corporation “Bank of Development and Foreign Economic Activity (Vneshekonombank)”. According to the schedule, polypropylene plant is to be started in 2011.
Formation of one of the major fields of the company development starts – the agro-industrial sphere. After the start of realization of construction of biochemical complex on deep processing of grains in Kazakhstan, “Group of Companies “Titan” makes decision to create the similar, but more powerful production facility in Russia. In January a subsidiary company limited “APK-Titan” was registered for the work on the markets of plant growing and animal breeding, which means creation of raw materials base for production capacities of the future biocomplex.
2006
Within agroindustrial investment project of the “Group of Companies “Titan”, the first complex on deep processing of grains is opened on the territory of CIS, in Kazakhstan, named “Biohim” (the city of Tayinsha, Pavlodar region). One of the products of “Biohim” is bioethanol – intermediate product which is used for the making of ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), high-octane ecologically pure additive for motor gasoline.
Joint enterprise «SILICIUM KAZAKHSTAN» is created in Karaganda (the Republic of Kazakhstan) for the making of metallurgical and polycrystalline silicon.
Another subsidiary, company limited “Titan-Agro” is created (the company which is realizing project of biocomplex construction on the territory of Omsk region).
Since 2006 on three enterprises of the “Group of Companies “Titan” (public company “Omsky Kauchuk”, CJSC “ECOOIL” and CJSC “Group of Companies “Titan”) system of management which conforms with requirements of international standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 is implemented.
2007
In April 2007 in order to increase efficiency of realization in north-west direction of goods produced on the enterprises of “Group of Companies “Titan”, company limited “Titan-North-West” is registered in St.-Petersburg. The company is preoccupied in retail and wholesale trade in petrochemical products. “Group of Companies “Titan” becomes owner of the qualified holding of shares of public company “Omsky Kauchuk”.
2008
Amicable agreement is signed with creditors of public company “Omsky Kauchuk” on cessation of external management.
Agreement is signed on attraction of funds of the state corporation “Bank of Development and Foreign Economic Activity (Vneshekonombank)” for construction of polypropylene plant. After the receipt of financing the speed of the enterprise construction is increased.
Since July 2008 within the framework of realization of the project “Biocomplex” construction of provender mill (not far from public company “Omsky Kauchuk” production site) and pig breeding complex on the territory of Omsk region is started. Planned deadline of handing-over of the first row of objects – 2011.
2009
Long-term target program, “Construction of Agricultural Production Deep Processing Complex “Biocomplex” on 2009-2015” is accepted, which includes agro-industrial objects of “Titan”. Public company “Omsky Kauchuk” employs corporate system of management in accordance with legislation on joint-stock companies. On the same enterprise the new production facility for the making of high-octane additives and processing of liquefied hydrocarbon gases is created. In September the company announces the beginning of realization of a new project – construction of polysilicon plant. With support from Group of Companies “Titan” scientific production association “Silarus” began works on realization of the large-scale project, which unites economies of the two countries – Russia and Kazakhstan. On the territory of Omsk region a plant will be built for the making of semiconductor silicon and electronic components for microelectronics and solar energy. The plant will be a part of complex, which will unite into single technological chain the enterprise in Karaganda (Republic of Kazakhstan) and the Omsk site. Kazakhstan plant is to produce 25 000 tonnes of metallurgical silicon per year, part of this will be used as the feedstock for further processing in Omsk. In the future the capacities of “Silarus” will allow to produce up to 10 000 tonnes per year of polycrystalline silicon of electronic and solar quality.
2010
“Group of Companies “Titan” becomes operator of the project “PARK: Industrial-Agricultural Regional Clusters” in Omsk region. Active and constructed enterprises of “Group of Companies “Titan” become included into four clusters of the project – petrochemical, agroindustrial, silicon and timber-processing. Active stage of realization of the project’s objects begins: polypropylene plant, provender mill, pig breeding complex. In spring the project PARK is presented on III Russian-German Feedstock Conference. In summer student construction brigade “Ivanhoe” arrives to the construction site of polypropylene plant. The brigade was working under the leadership of the company founder Mikhail Sutyaginsky in 80-s and was reestablished with his participation in 2010. In June the group of companies obtains its own corporate newspaper – “Element 22”. On November 9 limited partnership “SILICIUM KAZAKHSTAN” receives first batch of metallurgical silicon. The year finishes with the holding of I Interregional Conference “Cluster Approach: New Technologies of Development of the Regions” dedicated to the project PARK, in which representatives of both chambers of the Parliament, delegations of regional authorities, foreign and national partners of the project “PARK” participate.
2011
In spring another, IV Russian-German Feedstock Conference, takes place in Omsk region. Its topic is realization of “PARK”. The project now includes non-industrial cluster – cultural-educational, a series of projects and programs for children and youth. In April Anatoly Ageyev, a long-time employee of “Omsky Kauchuk”, is elected Director General of GC “Titan”. Student brigade “Ivanhoe” again arrives to the construction sites of “Titan” and receives the status of year-round brigade. On the main production site of GC “Titan” serious changes take place, connected with modernization of technological schemes and new projects within the framework of PARK: realization of new production program is started, based on the processing of hydrocarbon feedstock, transition to non-emulsive injection of oil into latex in the production of rubbers is carried out, phenol production capacity is increased. First production of timber-processing cluster is started – pyrolysis unit for the making of organic carbon. In August first turn of pig breeding complex starts working – pedigree farm and boar farm: about 3000 head of pedigree pigs is brought to the region from Ireland. Construction of the first start-up object of meat-packing plant begins. In November II Interregional Conference dedicated to the PARK project takes place. According to the year results production indices grew by all positions, and the volume of produced phenol and MTBE became maximal for the whole history.
Today “Group of Companies “Titan” is:
— about 26% of all-Russian market of SKMS;
— about quarter of Russian phenol market;
— pioneer developments in the sphere of biotechnologies;
GC “Titan” includes — complex of petrochemical production facilities with total volume of investments of more than 300 million dollars, large transportation company, agro-industrial complex. “Group of Companies “Titan” has affiliations and representative offices in Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Bashkiria, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and a number of other Russian regions and countries of the world.
Since 2006 “Group of Companies “Titan” is included in the list of largest private companies, according to the Forbes magazine, and occupies stable positions in such ratings as “Expert” and “Expert-Siberia”.
Founder of the Company
Since 1989 till 2007 permanent Director General of the company was Mikhail Alexandrovich Sutyaginsky. Professionally organizing the work of the company, Mikhail Alexandrovich made it one of the leaders of regional and Russian petrochemical markets. In March 2007 M.A. Sutyaginsky was elected deputy of Legislative Assembly of Omsk region. Since 2007 till 2011 was deputy of State Duma of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of V convocation, elected in composition of federal list of candidates of VPP “United Russia”; worked in the Committee on Economic Policy and Entrepreneurship. At present – President of Non-Commercial Partnership “Center of Innovations” (operator of the project “PARK: Industrial-Agricultural Regional Clusters” on federal level).
