Industrial acetone

Grades

Industrial acetone, highest grade, State Standard No 2768-84

Mai properties

Acetone is a part of mix solvents. It is a colorless volatile liquid with typical odor. Acetone can be mixed in every proportion with water, diethyl ether, methanol, ethanol, chloroform, esters and other organic solvents. Possesses chemical properties characteristic of aliphatic cetones. Resistant to the most oxidizers.

Purpose

Acetone is a widely used solvent for organic substances. Owing to its comparatively low toxicity it can also be used in food and pharmaceutical industry. Acetone is used as a feedstock for the synthesis of many chemical products.

The acetone is used mainly as:

o    solvent, deoiling agent in paint and varnish industry;

o    solvent for nitrates and cellulose acetates;

o    extracant, solvent, reacting medium in chemical, food and pharmaceutical industry;

o    intermediate product and feedstock in the synthesis of acetic anhydride, ketene, dephynilol propane (Bisphenol A), diacetone alcohol, mesytile oxide, methyl isobutyl ketone, methylmetacrylate, isophorone and other compounds.

o    filler for acetylene storage tanks (one volume of acetone at normal pressure and temperature solves about 25 volumes of acetylene);
